My sweet bestie Addie and I are kicking off our Thursday with lots of thankfulness!
If you are anything like me you know how hectic life can be. Sometimes I lose sight of the many blessings, big and small, that fill my life with so much joy everyday.
I love Thankful Thursday because it forces me to reflect on the many positives throughout the week and allows me to truly be thankful for the beauty amongst life's craziness.
Here are just a few of the things that I am thankful for this week:
1. Moments of Peace and Quiet
The truth is I love being surrounded by people that I love, but every once in a while silence calms my soul. There is just something about zero noise that brings about a sense of peace and tranquility in my life.
As hard as it is for me to wake up early in the mornings, once I am up with a cup of joe in my hands, I thoroughly enjoy the piece and quiet. I truly am grateful for a few hours to think, reflect and spend some time with the Lord.
I love this. A lot.
Expectations, big or small, can weigh you down. In the mornings I am thankful for no pressure from the outside world, letting go of insecurities and the ability to just be who I want to be with no judgement what so ever.
2. Jesus Calling
I love Jesus Calling.
I am so thankful for a devotion that encourages me daily and helps to keep me accountable. Through the years I have tried numerous devotions but have had a hard time sticking with them. Jesus Calling had me hooked at day one.
3. Being a Purdue Student
First and foremost I apologize for bringing this up once again. It is borderline absurd, but folks, as my time at Purdue is slowly dwindling away, I can't help but obsess over how much I absolutely adore this place. I love bleeding black and gold.
I will forever be thankful for how Purdue University has shaped me into the person I am today.
A lot has changed since I went off to college. I've matured, met the love of my life, have been blessed beyond measure with life-long friendships, changed my career path a million gazillion times, and truly discovered what makes me happy.
Just another reason why I am thankful for Purdue. I love spring and the pep it adds to everyone's steps on campus. It's just around the corner, friends! We can do it!
I am going to miss these beautiful nightly walks to my favorite Starbucks with some of my favorite people. Everything is just so much prettier in West Lala...(if only). Really though, God did quite the job painting that gorgeous sky and I am thankful for reminders as simple as that, that prove to me just how powerful and miraculous he is.
4. Craziness
I will be the first to admit it....my friends and I are full force crazy and I like it that way.
From the things we say, to the crazy shenanigans we partake in, we are absolutely ridiculous and I wouldn't want it any other way. I am so thankful for friends who are crazy fun and always make me laugh.
I am officially saying goodbye to always being the "fun-sucker"...it's way more fun having two gallons of crazy in your bucket? ;)
5. Retail Therapy
Ever heard the saying, "I wish retail therapy was covered by my health insurance"?
Well folks, I am one of those people that are hoping and praying that one day my good ole' insurance company will be on board with the most brilliant idea there ever was.
Until then, my wallet will be in a lot of hurt due to my semi-riduclous, semi-amazing favorite hobby.

and for those of you don't think it's a real thing, the dictionary even has a word to define it, so it must be true.
Oniochalasia: (n.) buying or shopping as a method of stress relief or relaxation.
#6. Sweet Surprises from my Sweet Dave
I am very thankful for a man who knows just how to brighten my day. He randomly surprised me with flowers and Oreos on Monday. He sure knows how to make this girl happy.
Happy Thankful Thursday, Friends!

ReplyDeleteAh! I love all of these things too! (except waking up early) but you are inspiring me to give 6AM a try! I'm so thankful for Purdue and so grateful that God put us both here; destined to be friends from the start (probably because we are both crazy and both LOVE starbucks) :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness Addie told me what "linking up" actually means haha! This is a whole new language to me and sometimes I still feel completely lost. I read "Jesus Calling" last year and absolutely loved it! I still can't believe graduation is right around the corner..time really does fly! Happy Thursday Maddie :-)
