Today I am filling you in on how I asked Macie to be my MOH & all of the details involving throwing together the perfect MOH box!
Having a sister is one of life's biggest blessings! Macie and I are 4 years apart. Growing up I tended to be motherly towards her... and her response, well we'll just say she was content with only having one mom to boss her around. But as we have gotten older, we have both matured and I can honestly say that I don't know what I would do without her. She truly is my best friend.
With that being said I knew Macie would always be my maid of honor whenever the time came.
I stole this picture of Dave, Macie and me right after we got engaged off of her Instagram. I love it! I wanted to ask her to be my MOH the day that David and I got engaged but I somehow held out for just long enough to throw a little gift box together for her.
I picked up a few supplies from Hobby Lobby: a square brown box, pink paint, ruffly gold edging, black and white striped paper, modge podge, a paint brush, a small wooden letter "M" and a glass nob.
I started out by painting three coats of pink paint on both the inside and outside of the box.
I then measured the top of the box and using those dimensions I cut an equivalent square of the black and white striped paper to modge podge on top.
I was all anxious and excited to get the box done that I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the steps. Don't worry! It's easy-peasy! I just put a layer of modge podge on the top surface of the lid, and gently and evenly laid the black and white striped paper on top.
To make sure all of the creases and bumps are gone, smooth the paper down moving from one side to the next. I then put a coat of modge podge on top of the paper. Its important put a nice, thick coat, especially along the edge of the paper to securely attach it on the box.
Once that was completed I hot glued the edging around the upper edge of the box lid, painted my wooden letter "M" black and hot glued it smack dab in the center of the box, and screwed the little glass nob in the center of the lid.
It turned out like this:

I picked up a few contents to throw inside!
The first one was this three dollar monogrammed notebook I found at Michaels! My wedding colors include gold and black & white stripes, so regardless if she uses it to jot down MOH duties & wedding to-do lists, it was a must purchase to throw in the box.
Of course I had to formally ask her to be my Maid Of Honor, so I whipped up a small little DIY square chalk board. I just purchased a black frame from Good Will, popped out the glass, spray painted the glass with 5 coats of chalk board spray paint, spray painted the frame gold, popped the spray painted glass back in the frame and I was good for the go! I used a chalk marker to add the finishing touch!
Macie and I are huge coffee drinkers so I couldn't go without throwing in the box a little personalized coffee mug. I made mine on Walgreens.com

My Aunt Michelle owns a screen printing business & made me this adorable tee to throw in there too!
I rolled the tee up and tied it with a little black ribbon.
Then I placed the tee in the mug and began packing the box.
The size of the chalk board forced me to place everything at an angle, but overall I was really pleased with how it turned out!
I threw some wrapping paper around it...literally, and called it a day!
Here she is right after she opened it up!
We were both so excited!
I just love her to pieces & couldn't imagine my special day without her by my side!
I even made it on her snapchat story ;)
Now, let the wedding planning begin!
Oh my Maddie! This post is BEYOND perfect!
